We all have different definitions of what we consider good or bad, positive or negative, based on our experiences and what we’ve been taught by others. But we reject the negative. We reject it in ourselves and others. We lack the understanding that the Earth is dual, meaning here, everything contains its opposite. So if you have good, you will necessarily have bad. If you love someone, you will also hate them, and vice versa. Also, negativity is necessary. Without the negative, the positive wouldn’t exist. We wouldn’t even know what the positive was. More importantly, without the negative there would be no reason to seek our soul.
So we need the negative, but we also need to know that when we reject any aspect of Existence, like negativity, we stay trapped in that thing. When we accept, we move above duality to what we call the Beyond. What is beyond duality? As Sharam says, “When we get beyond love and hate, we get to oneness. In oneness, there is no fear. There is only trust, silence, compassion, unity, joy, and ecstasy—in a nutshell, God.”
In this book, Sharam dives into negativity, as seen by his students, and extracts the wisdom from within that negativity. He helps his students to accept the negative in their lives and to even see these happenings as positive and necessary to their growth. He also gives simple techniques to help slow our minds—our thinking—which is truly the source of all negativity in our lives.
